STRUCTURE & ORDER FOR EVERY BELIEVER

1 Corinthians 14:40, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” This is not a suggestion. It is not an optional instruction. It is a divine command, an establishment of how believers should operate, how their lives should be led, and how they should progress from point to point. The scripture says all things, not one thing, not two things, not three things, but the entirety of conduct and actions must be based on order. As long as a person draws breath on this side of heaven, everything they do must be done based on order. The kingdom of God operates in order. It does not operate in a chaotic sense.

God does not operate in disorder, and God does not bless chaos. God only blesses chaos when He is invited into it and there is a willingness to do rearrangement or alteration. But when chaos is accepted as a status quo and a person expects God to bless it, God does not get involved in such a thing. Even from the very beginning, in the book of Genesis, the creation account shows how God created the universe in an orderly fashion based on His intention. Everything was done stage by stage, line upon line, detail upon detail before God created man. Chaos drains energy. Anything that is chaotic drains the energy of everyone involved. If there is chaos in a home, it drains the energy of the entire home. If there is chaos in a ministry, it drains the energy of that ministry. If there is chaos in a workplace, it drains that establishment. If there is chaos in a business, it drains the business. Chaos drains energy and blurs vision. Nobody knows where they are headed. Everyone thinks anything goes. Chaos also blocks blessings. No matter how much a person prays, if they have not put their house in order, there is no way they will experience blessing. Chaos drains energy, blurs vision, and blocks blessings.

God is a God of structure. God operates in structure. God created structure, God established structure, and God works in structure. God works in sequence and system.

To experience the fullness of His presence, believers must align their character and their systems with His divine standard. That standard may not be palatable. It may not feel trendy. It may not be what the world considers fashionable. But as long as it is the standard of heaven, it must be followed. When believers want God to bless them, they must align themselves to such establishments.

The word decency is derived from moral correctness and spiritual propriety. It means performing, behaving, or functioning to an acceptable, satisfactory, or morally upright standard. There is a standard of behavior that decency applies to. There is an expectation in terms of how things are done, how things are said, how choices are made, how decisions are conveyed, how communication happens in relationships, in business, in family, and in administration. Order refers to arrangement, sequence, or organization—the way things are arranged, the way things are sequenced, the way things are organized.

First Corinthians 14:33 says, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” Chaos and confusion do not originate from the house of God or from the throne of God. Where there is systemic misalignment—where the way things are done is not in accordance with the order of God, the instruction of God, or the structure that God has laid down—anxiety and persistent clutter will be experienced. Misalignment leads to persistent clutter, whether spiritual, mental, or physical. The atmosphere becomes vulnerable to adversarial manipulation. The adversary can easily manipulate those who are not aligned properly to the mind and intention of God. God establishes an environment of peace through the mechanism of divine alignment. Chaos will always breed where there is no alignment or proper arrangement.

A closer look at creation in Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 to 3 reveals this truth. It says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” The words “without form and void” come from two Hebrew words: “tohu” and “bohu.” Tohu means to lie in waste, expressing formlessness, confusion, unreality, emptiness, and nothingness. It means chaos, confusion, and emptiness. God does not create chaos, and God does not thrive or work in chaos. God works in believers being properly aligned to His counsel, His will, and His design. There must be order for God to bless.

Isaiah 9 says that the government shall be upon His shoulder, and of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David to order it and to establish it. God orders something before He establishes it. God does not bless rascality. There must be orderliness. God did not stop at the chaotic state of the earth. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God refused to stop at the chaotic. God brought light into the darkness, organization into the chaos, sanity into the insanity, and order into the confusion. From that point, God began to systematically arrange the world in line with His intention. God has a mind, a plan, a counsel, and a purpose. The Bible says God works all things after the counsel of His own will.

The creation account shows that God created the world over six literal days, resting on the seventh day. The sequence began by establishing the earth’s realms and environments and concluded by filling them with life. God created light on the first day. On the second day, He created the sky and the sea. On the third day, He made the dry land. On the fourth day, He made the sun and the moon and positioned them to rule the day and the night. On the fifth day, God created the creatures that fly and the creatures that swim in the water. On the sixth day, God created land animals and then man, the apex of His creation. On the seventh day, God completed His work and rested. If believers are made in the image of God, then their lives should not be chaotic. There is no way a person made in the image of God can lead a life of chaos. Chaos is when people do not know how to make choices. Chaos is when there is no respect for the authority placed over a person. Chaos is when a person does not respect their body as the temple of the Holy Ghost. Chaos is when a child wants to do whatever they want, regardless of what their parents think. Chaos is when a wife wants to do what she wants, regardless of what her husband thinks. Chaos is when a student refuses to listen to a lecturer and does whatever they want. Chaos is living a rebellious life, and God does not bless it.

If believers are made in the image of God, they must pattern their lives after God. Miracles do not manifest in chaotic spaces. Jesus Christ spread the word, and doctors and professors sat down to listen to Him. Because of the presence and the heaviness of the word of God, the power of God was present to heal. Miracles do not happen in chaotic places. In the life of Peter, when he said, “Lord, we have toiled all night and caught nothing,” and Jesus said, “Cast your net into the deep,” Peter responded, “At your word.” That is order—submitting to the word of God, listening to the voice of Jesus, and following the guidance of the Holy Ghost.

God frequently visits individuals who are consistently moving within their divine assignment, sequence, and order. The story of Zechariah in Luke chapter 1 verses 8 to 11 demonstrates this truth. Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. Yet they had no child because Elizabeth was barren, and both were well stricken in years. But while Zechariah executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, according to the custom of the priest’s office, an angel of the Lord appeared to him. Zechariah did not receive supernatural visitation by happenstance. He was positioned accurately within his assigned sequence, the order of his course. Breakthrough is fundamentally tied to consistency in routine assignments that God has ordered for a person’s life. When a person aligns with God’s order, God visits.

In Titus chapter 1 verse 5, Paul writes, “For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee.” Order is the tool used to remedy deficiency. When something is deficient, when something is not working properly, the order must be checked. Leadership, practical systems, and stewardship must be correctly ordered. When they are properly ordered, spiritual structure can sustain growth and facilitate healthy expansion without structural collapse. Order is an urgent matter when it comes to covering the house and securing legacy. When the divine chain of command is breached in the home, it produces national, generational, and spiritual ruin. God has established a specific structural framework for governance within the home and the kingdom. When roles are inverted, chaos follows. Let all things be done decently and in order. This is the divine mandate for every believer.
